Tianmu in the fall

This is my first fall here in Taipei and I must say that when I first heard locals talk about how cold it gets in Taipei, I laughed.  I couldn't imagine Taipei offering anything but excessive heat and the highest level of humidity that I had experienced over the summer.  Even all the rain that we have been having was the warm, tropical variety that dried fairly quickly.

Then something happened.  It got cold.  I'm not talking like winter jacket, scarf, and hat kind of cold, but just cool enough to require something cozy, like a fleece or long sleeves.  At least for this California mama that's enough to keep warm on a day like today, although I will say that I did see some local Taiwanese in puffer jackets all bundled up like they were ready to hit some ski slopes.  I have also seem some locals with several layers of clothing like a shirt with a sweater and a vest, but then their feet are still clad in slippers or flip-flops.  It makes for a very incongruous look.

Today's high/low temperature was 77F/67F, which is 25C/19C.
